President takes siesta

Dick, WA9STB spent most of May up north “working” on his cabin at Lake of the Ozarks. This is just a test to see if anyone actually reads this. Really Dick is at one of the lakes north of here, and south of Lake Michigan. Maybe it’s Little Barbee or Big Barbee or one of those bee places. Rumor has it he is washing dishes for gas money to come home on. But you didn’t hear that from me.

It was nice to see the turnout for the Indiana Qso Party. Although there were not very many qsos, it was nice to see everyone again. We quit somewhere around 8PM. Other IN stations were hard to work with band conditions being so poor. We were not the only ones who had that trouble as I noticed postings on the HDXCC reflector stated other stations had the same problem.

The antenna situation at the club has improved with Jerry, N9RAB getting the TH5 attached to the mast again. However we ran out of time and much work needs to be done to the 60’ tower. Hopefully this can be taken care of by Field Day and I’m not sure where we stand as far as having enough stubs for the hf rigs. We still may have some work in that area.

Mike, K9MI

K9MI also stated, out of the blue Ferrin Knight gave the club an older model Rohn tower, tail twister rotor and a TH 5 HF beam. Tower is 48 feet and needs painting. K9MI we should keep the antennas as a backup for our current hf beams. WA9STB we need to label it so everyone knows who owns it.
